Architect · Interior Designer · Researcher · University Lecturer

Naghmeh Hemmatian is an architect, interior designer, researcher, and university lecturer whose professional and academic journey in architecture began in 1998. Since 2004, she has been engaged in architectural education at the Faculty of Art and Architecture, Islamic Azad University, Central Tehran Branch, while developing a parallel professional practice in architecture and interior design.
Holding a PhD in Architecture, Hemmatian has developed a diverse professional practice spanning independent architectural and interior design projects as well as design leadership within multidisciplinary professional environments. Alongside her independent practice, she serves as Chief Design Manager at ARC Engineering Group, where she leads and oversees the design and development of architectural and multidisciplinary projects.
Her approach considers architecture beyond form, focusing on the relationship between space, light, material, context, and human experience. Her work seeks a thoughtful balance between simplicity, functionality, spatial quality, and the distinct identity of each project.
Alongside professional practice and teaching, Hemmatian’s research focuses on design management, productivity, and professional processes within architectural practice. The continuous dialogue between practice, research, and education forms an integral part of her architectural approach and professional identity.
ABOUT THE STUDIO
NAGHMEH HEMMATIAN STUDIO
Architecture · Interior Design
Naghmeh Hemmatian Studio is an architecture and interior design practice focused on creating contemporary, enduring, and context-responsive spaces.
The studio approaches each project through a careful understanding of context, function, human needs, and spatial experience. Architecture and interior design are conceived as a unified process, connecting spatial organization and architectural form with materiality, light, detail, and the experience of inhabiting a space.
Working across a range of scales and typologies, including residential, workplace, commercial, hospitality, and interior projects, the studio seeks a considered balance between simplicity, functionality, identity, and spatial quality. Each project is developed as an individual response to its particular context rather than through a predetermined visual language.
The studio’s design process is grounded in research, critical design thinking, and the careful development of ideas from concept to detail, viewing architecture and interior design as interconnected parts of a coherent spatial experience.
